It was a quiet night in the albergue in Rabe de las Caldazas. We left the albergue around 7:30, after breakfast and arrived in Hornillos around 9::40. There were no bars open so we waited around until 10:00 and one did open. There was a tienda open as you enter Hornillos. We walked about 12 miles today and it was hard for me. The whole way was a surface covered with small stones. Don’t be fooled and think that there is no elevation on the meseta - there is.
When we arrived in Hontanas we checked into Albergue Juan de Yepes/Santa Brigada Hostel. We got a double room (70 euro includes breakfast) and reserved dinner for 13 euro each. The albergue has 32 dorm beds at 13 € and a few double rooms at 72€s. Dinner is 13€. Can I just say that nothing looks familiar to us on this Camino so far except for the bigger cities like Pamplona and Burgos. All the smaller pueblos don’t look anything like we remembered. So far the bars have been few and far between. Okay, we’ve only walked 2 days this trip but I felt the same way when we walked for a week last year from Roncessvalles.
